Why You Need To Accept Credit Cards
No matter how attractive the price or persuasive the advertising, if people are not comfortable with the the payment options you offer they may well go elsewhere.
These days many people elect to pay for goods and services by credit and debit
card.
Research from APACs, the organisation that runs Britain's payment systems, shows cash is becoming less important. In 2004 they concluded that the amount of money spent on
credit and debit cards had now outstripped the total spent using cash for the first time. Other surveys have confirmed that customers are more likely to buy and will often buy more if
they are able to pay by credit or debit card. This is thought to be because of a combination of things, including
the better consumer rights offered with card payments, loyalty card programs offered by
the credit card acquirers and the fact that the customer may not have sufficient cash at hand. Customers also believe that the acceptance of card payments adds credibility to a retailer assuming (correctly) that the bank has evaluated their business and deems it sufficiently professional and stable to be able to offer this payment method.
Once you have decided that you need to offer credit and debit cards as a payment method to your customers all you need to do is evaluate account providers.
