Many councils need to accept cash and cheque payments in remote locations where access to their cash receipting system is not possible. The E-returns module allows a cashier to close the books for the day and ‘cash up’. They can then submit a return to the SmartPay cash receipting system with details of the days takings. The return would correspond with the cash and cheques banked from that location for the day. This give the central office a complete record of the money taken across the authority and acts as an important aid when bank reconciliation takes place.
