Reminder: Update your security or you may not be able to accept payments

September 2017

You may remember back in July we mentioned that there would be a security update in November.

This is just a reminder that in order to be able to continue processing payments you will need to update your systems to ensure your browsers, phone and Ecommerce sites are compatible with the new SHA-2.

If you are using ConnectPay via an integration or third party application, please contact your service provider for more information or call the Adelante Support desk on 01628 820611 or email support@adelante.co.uk.

Take a look at the Security Update FAQs and other information on what you need to do here.

Warning: Surcharging to be banned

June 2017

As a direct result of the PSD2 (Payment Services Directive 2), with effect from 13th January 2018, surcharging will be banned for card payments in the UK and Europe.  This is estimated to save consumers €730 million per year.

If you are currently surcharging your customers either through ConnectPay, TonePay, SmartPay or using a Chip & PIN terminal that has a pre-set/auto-surcharge uplift, this will need to be removed by the end of December 2017.

We expect this news will have a big impact on many of our customers and wanted you to be aware now so that you can plan ahead.

Now Supporting PayPal...

City Cabs benefit with an immediate increase in fares by using TaxiPay Chip & PIN

A new contract to provide City Cabs, Edinburgh with Chip & PIN terminals for their vast fleet of cars has been announced by Adelante Software Ltd.

Adelante and City Cabs have had a successful working relationship for over 10 years and this new contract means that City Cabs have a full complement of payment options to offer their customers. City Cabs covers all of Edinburgh and surrounding areas, including Edinburgh airport, a contract that has recently been renewed for a second time and alone brings in over 490,000 pick ups a year.

'Today's passengers count on using their credit and debit cards even for relatively short journeys, so being able to take safe and secure card payments with a Chip & PIN device is essential for the growing success of our business as well as improving our companies professional image', explains George Aird, Chairman at City Cabs. 'Unfortunately our relationship with another Chip & PIN provider didn't prove to be financially viable', continues George 'therefore after a thorough review of the market Adelante offered the most keenly priced deal and knowing first hand that they provide an excellent service with friendly, helpful staff, it seemed a natural progression to extend our relationship and implement TaxiPay Chip & PIN.

Already, after only a month, City Cabs are seeing a substantial increase in the number of fares being taken as a direct result of implementing TaxiPay Chip & PIN.

Adelante TaxiPay Chip & PIN's secure card machines helps you improve your cash flow, by getting money in faster and more efficiently, giving you more time to concentrate on growing your business.

New Roaming Sim

Adelante now offer fully roaming data Sims for our range of mobile GPRS Chip & Pin terminals.

In the UK all 3 major mobile networks are covered, O2, Vodafone and Orange/T-mobile. Terminals can be set to automatically roam or if required the user can manually select the network they wish to connect to. The single biggest problem for GPRS Mobile Chip and PIN Machines is obtaining a signal.  By moving to a roaming Sim most of these issues go away because if the default network is busy or out of range the sim will search for the best available alternative signal So don’t be caught out again with lack of signal, rent an Adelante terminal with a roaming Sim. Terminals can be connect to all UK acquiring banks.

Another big benefit of roaming Sims is that they can also roam throughout mainland Europe and also some other countries.  If you want to take credit cards abroad we now have the perfect solution. Call our sales desk for prices to rent our roaming terminals from 3 days up to 3 years.

Anderson Zaks, a leading independent card payments software provider is working with Adelante, a leading card payment solutions provider, to deliver a fully PCI DSS compliant mobile payment system. The new mobile payment system, called MobilePOS, uses Anderson Zaks RedCard software and is fully accredited by banks.  MobilePOS is ideal for a diverse range of users including local government, charities, the taxi trade, party plan companies, bailiffs, market traders, pop-up retail outlets, hospitality and many others, and will be on show for the first time at the Retail Business Technology Expo.

Anderson Zaks was selected by Adelante for its expertise within the Chip & PIN market and for being the best cultural fit for the Adelante business model.

Darrell Bluck, Managing Director at Adelante, said “Anderson Zaks bring over 10 years of experience within Chip & PIN, when combined with our own 10 years of expertise within mobile payments, we are able to deliver a highly robust, flexible solution to our customers.  This will provide our customers with new opportunities to expand their businesses as they will be able to take card payments easily, whatever the location.”

Anderson Zaks RedCard enables retailers to accept and process any card anytime, anywhere.  RedCard offers easy integration and supports credit, debit, ETU, DCC, gift and contactless payment card types.
